As opposed to using the Conference feature in Canvas, Teams Meetings is embedded through the page feature.  To set up a Video Conference, please use the following steps:

1. In Canvas, open in “Edit” mode the page you wish to embed the Teams Meeting link.  From the Rich-Text editor menu, select “More External Tools” and from the drop-down option, select “Microsoft Teams Meetings”.

2. You may be asked to “log-in” at this stage.  Use your email credentials if requested.  A Teams splash page will appear.  Select the “Create Meeting Link” option at the bottom of this page.

3. Select the meeting title and the start/end times for your Team Meeting in the appropriate spaces.   Select “Create” when all details have been entered.  It will take a few moments to think about life and then a Teams Meeting link will be added to the Canvas page.  Note that the link generated will reflect the title you give the meeting.   Ensure you save the page after the link has been added!

4. When ready to run the conference, click on the link that was generated in Canvas.  You have two options, opening the Teams Meeting in the Teams App or via the Interwebs. Staff should install the Teams application (Select – “Download Windows App”).   Once you have installed the application once, you do not need to do this again.  Students can join the conference using the web option.

5. If you have already downloaded the Teams Application, you will be prompted to begin the meeting using the application.  Select the “Open” option.

6. Once in Teams, you will be presented with the following window.  Select the “Join Now” option at the bottom of the viewing window.

7. Once joined, you will see the following menu bar.  A brief description of the options is below.

8. With the share screen options, you are able to share the screen, a window, an application and files either from OneDrive or on your local machine.

9. If you choose the “Start Recording” option from the Meeting Options menu, you will have the option from the Team Meeting to be uploaded to Microsoft Stream. This can then be shared/embedded in Canvas if required.

Stream can be accessed here: https://web.microsoftstream.com/
